Short track meets long track! On Saturday, November 19th and Sunday, November 20th, skaters from Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin competed in a first-of-it’s-kind event, short
track on one day, long track on the next day – with overall winners determined by the two-day points combination.
Skaters were grouped by ability and given Minnesota state symbol names, such as the Blueberry Muffins, Loons, Mosquitoes, Honeycrisps…etc. Each group raced at least three races per day. On Sunday for the long track event, Pony-level skaters and up raced a 500m metric time trial and all skaters participated in pack style races.
It was a fun weekend of racing – join us at the 2012 Gopher Open Extravaganza!
